POTATO CUTTING & OILING SYSTEM

Potato Cutting & Oiling System

  • Potato Cutting & Oiling system are designed to automate the cross cutting and the oiling of unbaked potato’s at a maximum production rate of 140 potato’s per minute.

  • The system consist of a four lane indexing conveyor, four lane vertical cutting station and a four lane oil deposit / spray station.

  • The conveyor is fitted with four sets of transmission chain each of which has stainless steel carriers fitted to locate the potatoes

  • Each row of carriers is indexed forward in increments of 150mm. After each index the conveyor has an adjustable dwell facility for varying the production throughput.

  • The specified maximum index rate is 35 cycles per minute. (1.1 seconds dwell time)

  • The system is fitted with four individual lane sensors for the detection of the potato’s and will initiate the cycle of each of the two operating stations, cutting & oiling, when potatoes are detected.

  • The cutting station has been fitted with sprung loaded vertical cutting carriages mounted upon a common vertically operated support plate. The support plate descends down vertically and permits the cutting carriages to make contact with the potato’s. Any variation in height is compensated by the sprung loaded mountings and this ensures a consist cutting depth in each of the potatoes regardless of height differential (within the specified 35mm variation)

  • The cutting carriages are operated independently, only when a potato is detected.

  • The automatic oiling station consists of a pneumatically operated piston pump which generates a controlled pressure of the oil. The oil is delivered to individual air atomised spray heads.

  • The combination of oil pressure and air pressure ensures the correct volume and distribution of oil. Each are operated individually by the lane sensors.

  • The potatoes are deposited from the discharge of the conveyor into a wire basket.
